Astilbe Deutschland (Astilbe japonica) features masses of luminous, pure white, pyramidal-shaped flower plumes that stand out in the night garden. Quite showy, they rise gracefully in early to mid-summer on strong, erect flowering stems above an attractive mound of fern-like deep green, glossy foliage. Ideal for shade gardens, woodland landscapes, and moist garden borders, Astilbe Deutschland thrives in partial to full shade and flourishes in consistently moist, well-drained soil. Its compact growth habit makes it a perfect choice for borders, mixed perennial beds, and container gardening. Not only is this hardy perennial easy to grow, but it also attracts pollinators like butterflies while being deer and rabbit resistant. Whether used in cut flower arrangements, mass plantings, or as a focal point in shaded garden spaces, Astilbe Deutschland is sure to bring a touch of sophistication and beauty to the landscape. Astilbe Deutschland pairs wonderfully with other shade garden favorites such as Hostas, Ferns, Heuchera, and Hellebores. Its delicate white blooms complement the broader foliage of these plants, creating a well-balanced and visually appealing garden design. Although Astilbe thrives in moist soil, once established, it can withstand short dry periods, especially if planted in partially shaded areas with some moisture retention. Enhance your garden with the timeless beauty of Astilbe Deutschland and enjoy its elegant white blooms year after year!

  • Adaptive to Various Soil Conditions: While it prefers rich, moist, well-draining soil, Astilbe Deutschland can adapt to different soil types, including loamy, sandy, or clay soils—as long as the moisture levels are maintained.
  • Great as a Cut Flower: The delicate plumes of Astilbe Deutschland make excellent fresh-cut flowers for bouquets and floral arrangements. They can also be dried and used in everlasting floral displays, retaining their feathery texture even after drying.
  • Long Blooming Period for Seasonal Interest: Astilbe Deutschland produces stunning white plumes in early to mid-summer, offering weeks of breathtaking floral display. Even after the flowers fade, the plant maintains its lush green foliage, ensuring continuous interest throughout the growing season.
  • Versatility & Plant Height: With a compact height of 18-24 inches, Astilbe Deutschland is perfect for garden borders, mixed perennial beds, and container gardening. It also works beautifully in mass plantings, where large groups of plants can create a striking visual impact with their fluffy white flowers.
  • Low Maintenance & Easy to Grow: Astilbe Deutschland requires minimal effort to thrive. It benefits from occasional mulching to retain moisture, and once established, it only needs regular watering and occasional division every few years to maintain its vigor. Unlike high-maintenance plants, it does not require deadheading to rebloom.

Product Care Instructions Astilbe Deutschland prefers partial to full shade. Requires rich, well-draining, humus-rich soil. Soak the Astilbe roots in water for 1-2 hours before planting to help hydrate them. Dig a hole 4-6 inches deep and wide enough to spread the roots. Position the crown (where the roots meet the stems) about 1 inch below the soil surface. Backfill with soil, pressing gently to remove air pockets. Water thoroughly after planting. Space 18-24 inches apart to allow proper airflow and healthy growth.
